Homemade Seed Crackers

Crunchy, simple and naturally grain-free, these homemade seed crackers are packed with fibre, healthy fats and minerals. Perfect with hummus, avocado, dips or alongside a salad or soup.

Ingredients

80 g sunflower seeds

80 g pumpkin seeds

40 g sesame seeds

30 g chia seeds

30 g ground flaxseeds

250 ml water

1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil

½ tsp sea salt

Optional: ½ tsp garlic powder or dried herbs

Method

Preheat the oven to 160°C (140°C fan) and line a large baking tray with baking paper.

Add all the seeds and sea salt to a bowl and mix well.

Pour in the water and olive oil and stir until combined.

Leave the mixture to sit for 15–20 minutes, until the chia and flax have absorbed the water and the mixture has thickened.

Spoon onto the prepared baking tray and spread into a very thin, even layer using the back of a spoon or spatula.

Bake for 25 minutes, then remove from the oven and carefully score into cracker-sized pieces.

Return to the oven for another 25–35 minutes, until completely dry and crisp. Keep an eye on the edges towards the end so they don't become too dark.

Allow to cool completely before breaking into crackers.

Storage

Once completely cool, store in an airtight container to keep them crisp.
